Mon-Fri: 8 AM to 4:30 PM Iowa artist Grand Wood, best known for his work "American Gothic," was commissioned in 1927 to create murals for the Corn Room and Pioneer Room of the new Hotel Chieftain in Council Bluffs. When the hotel was later sold, the murals were taken down in pieces. Beginning in 2000, the Bluffs Arts Council collected and restored pieces of the mural, now displayed in the lobby or the county courthouse.
