Map to June Hitch Hike
June Hitch HikeJune 20, 7:00PM
Hitchcock Nature Center
Join us Tuesday, June 20th at 7:00 p.m. for the second hike of the 2017 Hitch Hike series. Take a closer look at some of Hitchcocks best prairie remnants as you are guided along Badger Ridge. Discover purple coneflowers and other early summer wildflowers and get an idea of what the hills may have looked like during the time of Lewis and Clark.
The public is invited to attend all the hikes in this series. They are designed to introduce visitors to Hitchcock Nature Center as well as the Loess Hills. The series begins with a moderate level hike and will get progressively more challenging as we build up to a 2.5 mile difficult hike in September. Water bottles, bug spray, & sunblock are all recommended, please dress for the weather & wear appropriate footwear.
Well behaved dogs are permitted to accompany their owners but must be leashed at all times, you must pick up and remove their waste, and you may be asked to remain toward the tail end of the group if we have a large number of participants. This is an educational program, disruptive pets may be asked to leave the group.
Pre-registration is not required for this event. There is no fee for this event, free will donations are accepted to support continued programming opportunities in Pottawattamie County. Participants must have a valid Pottawattamie County Park permit or purchase a $2.00 per vehicle daily entrance pass. Daily passes may be purchased with cash or check at the front entrance the day of the event. Annual permits may be purchased for $10.00 from staff at any of our parks or at the Loess Hills Lodge at Hitchcock Nature Center during regular business hours.
